The need for a Cancer Institute with World Class Facilities was the dream of Late Smt Nandamuri Basava Taraka Rama Rao, W/o Late Sri N. T. Rama Rao the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh who herself succumbed to the dreadful disease "Cancer". Smt Nandamuri Basava Taraka Rama Rao Memorial Cancer Foundation (NBTR) was set up in the form of Trust in 1989 with the initiation of Late Sri N. T. Rama Rao, for establishing a Cancer Hospital in memory of his wife Smt Nandamuri Basava Tarakam.

Indo-American Cancer Institute and Research Centre is promoted by Smt Nandamuri Basava Taraka Rama Rao Memorial Cancer Foundation and Indo-American Cancer Organisation.

The prime Objectives of the Institute are

	Provide state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities

	Function as a non-profit organization in the service of cancer patients

The institute is a 500 bedded Super Speciality Centre of Oncology which provides comprehensive range of medical facilities with State of the Art equipment and well knit team of Oncologists in Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Pediatric Oncology under one roof. It is well supported by diagnostic services in Radiology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Gastroenterology for cancer screening, early detection, prevention, treatment and also rehabilitation of Cancer patients.

It proves that world class treatment and facilities are as much the right of the privileged as it is the right of those who can afford to cross the seas for reliable and modern treatment.
